Following the two ATWG Conference sessions at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, a special follow up session was held on April 20 at the Sedona Hilton Resort, hosted by the Arcos Cielos Center for Future-Science Technology. Highlights of this Session included a special Intensive Leadership Workshop presented by Charlie Smith and Barry Pogorel, who graciously donated their time and unique expertise for this workshop. Other highlights revolved around the interaction of the new Space Book, Beyond Earth: The Future of Humans in Space. Senior Editor, USC Professor Emeritus, Dr. Bob Krone, made the trip especially to moderate the ATWG Author Interaction Sessions, and provide his editorial insights. The intensive workshop session, “Leadership for the Future of Humans in Space” was focused on the resolution definition by workshop members of a set of Leadership Objectives, which were generated by the discussions and interactions of the authors and other ATWG participants, and skillfully moderated by Charlie Smith and Barry Pogorel. This workshop achieved its success mainly by allowing the participants to learn and enable new creative pathways for resolving and crystallizing concepts, and then developing clear pathways for communicating and implementing them in government, academia, commercial, and public arenas.

The leadership workshop session was followed up by a presentation by Dr. Sherry Bell, co-author of the book chapter entitled, “Evolutionary Psychology and its Implications for Humans in Space.” Sherry’s presentation focused on the highlights for ATWG authors in conjunction with Book Signing events and Broadcast Media Presentations.

Following the lunch break, a workshop session was chaired by Senior Editor Dr. Bob Krone and Associate Editors, Langdon Morris (statement read in absentia) and Dr. Ken Cox. Topics for discussion included: Future Book and Promotion Opportunities, the formation of an ATWG Speakers Bureau, Marketing Book Products and Spin-Offs, Book Translations into Multiple Languages, a Future ATWG Book Series, Other Publication Initiatives, and Graduate School Research Opportunities.

Following the Hilton Workshop, the ATWG/SEDA Leaders visited the Arcos Cielos Center for Future-Science Technology and Nature Sanctuary to enjoy the superb weather and views in our spectacular natural setting.
