Media Reform - Changing the System for a Better World
“Our media system isn’t natural. It’s the result of policies crafted in Washington behind closed doors by powerful corporate lobbyists. Decisions being made now will determine the shape of the media and the future of the Internet for generations. If we want better media policies, we need ot engage millions of people in crucial policy debates and demand changes.”
“At the National Conference of Media Reform in Memphis, Tennessee on January 12-14, 2007 people from all walks of life across the political spectrum are joining the movement for media reform - a rapidly growing effort to create a more diverse and democratic system.
Media Reform is crucial and not just in creating better media, but advancing every issue you care about: Civil Rights, Education, the Environment, the Economy, Health Care, Fair Elections. Solving any of these problems will be impossible without fixing the media.
Thousands will gather next January 12-14 in Memphis for the National Conference for Media Reform. This inspiring event wisll focus on broadening the movement and establishing the media as a viable political issue in America.” [[Source - Freepress www.freepress.net/conference].
Note: Our Media has tremendous influence on the Human Consciousness, as such it needs to take a new position of Leadership and Responsibility for the types of programming put out on the Global Airways. We all need to take responsibility to communicate with media and tell them to cease focusing on violence for violence’s sake and “debacle de jour” news reporting, and focus instead on issues which provoke positive and creative thinking and educate the public. This will provide a win-win situations for corporate sponsors and media viewers alike. EM
