Nations Launch Plan to Save "Amazon of the Seas"
Sunday, May 17th, 2009Leaders from six different nations have agreed to work together to save Southeast Asia’s massive Coral Triangle, which is considered to be the world’s richest Underwater Wilderness.
Leaders of East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Phillipines and Solomon Islands signed agreements to expand Marine Sanctuaries and No-Fishing Zones during recent talks in Indonesia. The new Coral Triangle Initiative calls for stronger international cooperation to combat illegal fishing and environmental destruction in an area that equals half the size of the United States, and is home to half the world’s coral reefs. подглядывающие секс фото
According to Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, “The Coral Triangle is a Globally Recognized Treasure. It is unique, there is nothing like it on Earth.” He also stated that the area had been compared to the Amazon Rainforest in terms of its biological diversity.
