Researchers recently made a breakthrough in developing a “Green Gasoline,” a liquid which is similar to ordinary gasoline, but can be created from sustainable biomass sources such as Switchgrass, or Popular Trees. University of Massachusetts scientists rapidly heated Cellulose in the presence of solid Zeolite Catalysts, then rapidly cooled the mix, to create a liquid that contains many of the same compounds found in ordinary gasoline. The entire process took under two minutes to completion, and used only moderate amounts of heat energy. To read the full story CLICK HERE.

“Green Fuel” in the form of Microscopic Algae may well prove to be the Ultimate Renewable Energy Source of the Future. Green Algae is among the fastest growing plants in the world, and can be selected and genetically modified to produce about 50 percent of its weight in Oil, which can then be converted to Biofuels for Cars, Trucks, Airplanes, and Ships.  (Courtesy of CNN and The Arlington Institute). To read the full article CLICK HERE.

As a student of Animal Behavior, I have always had a compelling fascination for Animals that Paint. When in Thailand on a Global Ecology Trip three years ago, I had the opportunity to observe some of the younger Elephants that did paintings for the tourists, to help earn their keep. I have three Elephant Paintings hanging on my Office wall here in Sedona, as well as one which was done by two (rescued) Dolphins, who were taught to paint in captivity as an activity to keep them busy and creative. All of the artwork I had seen previously is abstract. What you will see in this movie from Thailand is truly astonishing, and is just another example how the animals who inhabit Earth’s Biosphere have unique and truly wonderful ways of expressing themselves.
